Driving a 400% Increase: How We Designed the Financing Journey for Egypt’s Largest Automotive Platform

The Challenge

ContactCars.com came to us already dominant. As Egypt’s largest automotive platform, they had the traffic and the listings. Car buyers across the country trusted them, every day. What they didn’t have yet was a financing experience that matched that scale.

In Egypt, buying a car rarely means paying the full price upfront. Financing and insurance are part of the decision from the very first search, not an afterthought at checkout. ContactCars.com needed a financing journey that felt like a natural extension of the platform buyers already trusted. It couldn’t feel like a hand-off to a lender’s paperwork.

The Problem

Financing Was a Detour, Not a Path

Before this project, a buyer interested in financing had to leave the flow they were in. They had to guess at eligibility. Then they had to wait for a follow-up call before knowing whether financing was even realistic. Every one of those gaps was a place to lose a buyer who was otherwise ready to act.

The brief wasn’t just to add a financing page. It was to design a full service journey: discovery, installment estimation, eligibility, and submission. That journey had to stand on its own as a landing experience. It also had to stay connected to the wider ContactCars.com ecosystem, on web and in the iOS and Android apps.

Our Design Approach

We treated financing as a product in its own right, not a form. The core decision was to let a buyer estimate their own installment before committing to anything. The numbers, not a sales conversation, did the convincing.

We designed the journey to answer the buyer’s real questions in order. What would this cost me monthly? Do I qualify? How do I move forward? Each step was built to reduce the emotional friction of a financial decision. It showed progress clearly and never asked for more information than that step needed.

Key Features We Designed Around

  • Financing Discovery
  • Installment Estimation
  • Eligibility Review
  • Request Submission

The installment estimator became the centerpiece. We designed it to feel like a calculator a buyer could play with. They could adjust down payment and tenure and watch the monthly figure respond immediately. It was never a static disclosure buried in fine print.

Eligibility review was designed to set honest expectations early. A buyer who wasn’t a fit yet would know that before submitting a request — not after waiting days for a rejection.

The User Experience

Confidence Before Commitment

Every screen was designed around one question: does this make a buyer more confident to move to the next step, or less? Financing decisions carry real anxiety. So we treated clarity as the primary design material — plain language over legal phrasing, and visual progress over ambiguous next steps.

The experience needed to work as both a standalone landing page and a connected part of the wider platform. So we designed it to feel complete on its own, while always offering a clear path back into the main ContactCars.com ecosystem.

Lessons Learned

The biggest lesson from this project: in financial products, the calculator is the conversion tool. Buyers didn’t need to be persuaded with copy nearly as much as they needed to be shown their own numbers.

We also learned that a service journey can be standalone and integrated at the same time. That works if the connective tissue back to the parent platform is designed deliberately, rather than assumed.

Within the first three months, Finance and Insurance applications on the platform increased by 400%. That’s proof that in automotive financing, the biggest UX win isn’t a redesigned form. It’s removing every moment of doubt between being interested and qualifying.
